Just a different color variant then? Maybe OP should see if they can right themselves lol. I'd be interested to know!I don’t think that’s a trochius

Same, these don't seem to right themselves like my black trochus.Well... my lfs sells ones that look like that as trochus, but I think they're astrea... because I've seen them not be able to flip themselves over (and trochus should be able to). Astreas are good workers but I can't have them because my wrasse will eat them.
So basically, turban snails.google tectus...
Just did. Looks very very similar. Especially the white body and green patterning....google tectus...
Again, turbans are very closely related to trochus.Just did. Looks very very similar. Especially the white body and green patterning....
Well now yall are making me question whether I've been made a fool lol...
So digging just a bit more I end up on Live Aquaria that says that turban tectus snails are commonly known as false trochus snails... lolllSo basically, turban snails.
Interesting. I only order trochus from Reef Cleaners now because I don't like to buy my wrasse expensive snacks that are supposed to be part of my CUC, lol. If they can't right themselves, they get eaten. Darn wrasse has killed 4 huge turbos even! He's lucky he's one of my favorite fish lol.Same, these don't seem to right themselves like my black trochus.
Sure, I'm not knowledgeable enough to confirm nor deny this. Just feeling a bit weird paying for 1 thing and getting something a bit different. Maybe like paying for a yellow belly regal angel but getting a Grey belly angel... same is thing different part of the world, looks different...Again, turbans are very closely related to trochus.
Well now that I've Googled tectus snails, I want some of those!Just did. Looks very very similar. Especially the white body and green patterning....

I recently ordered some trochus snails online and got these. I am a bit confused that these snails didn't have the typical black body with the brownish "trap door" that all my other trochus snails have. It's clearly different from what the online picture depicts too, which is you
typical purple shelled with black feet.
But then again, I'm no snail invert... so I'd love to know if folks have had trochus snails of different variety and whether I am being worried over a non issue...
Hard to say without seeing the body or trap door. One thing is certain, these snails don't have the hard white trap door that my other astreas have.Could be this which is still a trochus snail, just not the one you were expecting.
They are highly variable so don’t get hooked up on the color of the shell.

Right?! I love wrasses so I've resigned myself to the fact that snails are on the menu and I'll have to replenish them regularly. It's funny that he unalived the big turbo snails, but hasn't touched the tiny baby nassarius I have... probably because they mostly come out after dark when the wrasse is asleep in the sand, lol. They know we won’t part with them
Could be. I’ll stick with my red banded trochius 15+ yr span, I’ve read.Just a different color variant then? Maybe OP should see if they can right themselves lol. I'd be interested to know!
