I might be asking an obviously dumb question but here it goes:

I'm looking at these Askoll pumps with custom volutes. These, as I understand it, are mag drive pumps. The output of the volute is placed on one side as opposed to dead center like a Mag5, Mag7, etc. How do they keep the impeller from spinning the wrong way on startup? If they start the wrong way, water will not flow out of the volute effectively. Am I missing something?

The Laguna (Askoll) Power-Flo, Max-Flow, etc... all have electronic management (PFC) and that includes directional starts.

Is there a list somewhere of pumps that do and do not have electronic management for directional starts?
