Hey everyone,

This guy in my area is giving me a great deal on an ASM G3 skimmer. I have a 75 gallon tank and plan to build a 30 gallon sump/fuge. My first question, is this skimmer too much for my tank.. I have about 15 SPS and 5 LPS and plan on getting more sps. I have a modded BAK PAK Skimmer now :). I wanted to get this because I plan on upgrading sometime and its a killer deal. My second question, this skimmer is huge!! 25 inches tall. I have about 26 inches of clearance inside from the bottom of tank to bottom of stand. 1 inch to take of the cap. I could make some kind of drainage gallon on the side so i wouldn't have to take the cap of that often. What do you guys think? Thanks

One inch should be enough...I only have one inch of clearance over my skimmer, and I actually had to chop the collection cup down to get it there. (I cover it with plastic wrap)

I have had that skimmer, and I still do...ASM is a good company, but it wont pull the most, and it wont pull the darkest of some similarly priced stuff IMO...however if you are getting a deal on it roll with it, should be a dandy skimmer for a 75g.

I ran one on my 75 gallon with a 30 gallon sump for a few years. Great skimmer for that tank.

I think it only requires a 1/2 clearance to remove the cup.
