Hi!

Anyone who can recommend a T5 bulb combo that fits good to a Hybrid setup? Have a RedSea Peninsula 350 that I gonna add a AquaticLife hybrid fixture and gonna use my current RedSea LEDs as the main lights.

The fixture has 4 bulbs so I need a 4 bulb combo recommendation. :)

Just to add, my tank is SPS dominated and want a Color/growth combo if it's possible. Earlier I have run 2 x Blue Plus and 2 x Purple Plus.

Thanks in advance.

NB, picture is from the first month of cycle. :)

Even mix of Coral Plus and Blue Plus here. I do like a purple plus in the mix if you have more than 4 bulbs. Makes pinks pop really nice.

2x Blue Plus
1x Coral Plus
1x Actinic

BRS did a video on this and said that’s the best for spectrum and appearance.

Here is my hybrid setup:
4 XR30 blue w/ high intensity lenses (14” off water)
4 XR30 pro w/high intensity lenses (14” off water)
10K 250w Ushio (14” off water)
White KZ (coral plus new gen) on the inside
ATI blue plus on the outside (7” off water)

14 hour photo
Led 9 hours full spectrum 5 blue
Halides on for 6, will get to 8 eventually, over the next year
T5s on 10 hours

Par at sand 550 ish - depends on pro vs blue above. There is a meaningful difference between the two. I plan on dumping the XR30s this year. I can’t deal with Mobius anymore with a tank that has more than 2 lights.

I'm currently running the following setup.

ATI Purple+
ATI Blue+
Radium 250w Mogul Bulb
ATI Actinic
ATI Blue+

Swapping the Purple+ for Coral+ can work great as well. In 6 bulb, I used to always run 4-B+ and 2-P+ back in the day and I loved it.

Depends on your desires. Personally I like a slightly more white look. But at night I run just 2 blue plus.

I’d do:

B+
GE 6500k
P+
B+

Just now looking for new coral bulb recommendations but mine is 6x54w
This is what I found so far:
2-Blue Plus
1-Coral Plus
1-Actinic
2-Blue Plus
Will it be too blue?

I think it depends on your personal taste. For me yes. I like full spectrum. But run half my bulbs blue. Plus when BRS had that crazy last a year ago, I purchased a couple cases of blue and coral plus, so, if I can go 18 months on a set of bulbs, and being I am 53, my grands will have a supply of bulbs available to them, lol.

This will be very blue yes. I recommend 3x B+ and 3 C+ and grab an actinic to switch out a coral plus if you want more pop.

Actinic makes color pop better than C+? How does the par compare ?

A Coral Plus won’t really pop any colors. It’s a white bulb with a little blue hint to it. The actinic is violet and dim to the human eyes. They get easily washed out by other bulbs IME.

You can see all the looks here:

The PAR of actinic bulbs is pretty poor in comparison to B+ & C+, as well as the longevity.

Actinic puts out 610 PAR with the meter touching the bulb on an actively cooled ATI fixture, and that number drops to 230 in 6 months, where B+ starts at 1150 & C+ starts at 1050 and those numbers barely drop in a year.

The benefit is actinic bulbs hit 420nm as their peak where the other bulbs that wavelength gets less punch (but they still do have it), and one less bulb washing it out gives a bit more violet.

All that being said, I only recommend having one to play with and haven’t used them in a few years since seeing the huge drop in output after 6 months. Purple + has the same issue.

What’s weird is coral plus and blue plus are identical in their blue band, the coral plus just has some red and green in the mix.

Yep. 50% Blue Plus, 40% Aquablue and 10% Purple Plus

Our eyes see that green so much better than blue/violet
