How many people have participated in this thread up until I am posting this?

I think you make six... Dale, Mike, Downbeach, quigimon, you and, myself. And your point is...?

And you brought nothing productive to this thread..... LOL.

People can join in, we won't bite... well, Mike might....

I have nothing to add. I was just wondering hoe many in the club are using ATS now.

I know of three: Dale, Luis and, Mike. There maybe more.

I lack finding any negatives to using a scrubber, except adding to my normal maintenance routine.

Kayler used to have one and is now wanting one again last i talked to him

When he first used one his tank was over run and gross. I gave him an established screen and about 2 weeks later his tank was basically all cleared up.

Mine isn't producing much green hair yet, mostly a brown slime type algae but I have noticed my cyano is really dieing off. Would love to have green but it's just not growing for some reason. Mine is set up with a unioun also so I can take it out for easy cleaning.

Dont worry about the color. If your tank is doing better keep doing what you are doing

I'm surprised no one has mentioned updraft algae scrubbers yet. Seems a bit cleaner, although the challenge also seems to be lighting them. I've been thinking about buying a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" acrylic and building one out when the time comes. :)

Iv'e looked at the upflows but decided on the waterfall and will stick with it. I would like to have an acrylic enclosure and switch lighting to led. Brandon, I think that buld is only 12w so those leds are prolly 1w so I don't know how well it will work, most use 3w I think.

Right... the acrylic enclosure and LED lighting are what make me want to do an upflow... its a bit simpler in a lot of ways. Many people seem to hate keeping the gap clean and keeping the water flowing perfectly... the upflow is more work to setup initially, but less overall work in the end... that's my kind of equipment. :D

I dnt think the upflows works.nearly as well as waterfall. And the flow being perfect isnt really necessary just so that theres good flow across the whole screen.

Dale i used to have the same problem till i started putting the cfl bulbs about 2"-3" from screen not the normal 4" recommended. My brand new screen i just added was covered on GHa first week. Also what watt cfl are you using. Anything less than 23w doesnt grow very well and ive actually gotten a lot bettrr results running 26w cfl instead of 23w. Doesnt sound like there should be a difference but i have been getting way better results and gha

That's inpressive!! I'm using the 23w 2700k cfl's. It's starting to show up in patches so maybe It will start to take over.

If u have hugh nutrients the algae will be more slimy and dark green. Not enough light grows brownish algae. To much it becomes yellow and rubbery.

Try placing lights 2" from screen. Your algae might burn a bit at first but will get used to it. Give any changes a few weeks before moving again unless its growing yellow rubber

I have e-mailed ReefBreeders to get the specs on that bulb, I will post the reply once I get it.
