Aussie Dendro & Leather Toadstool Placement?

Have 2 questions;

1) My Leather Toadstool is like slimy? Looks like it has a film or type of slime secreting from it, is this normal?

2) Where should I place my Aussie Dendrophyllia? It’s only open during night, the first few days I had it, it was open 24/7, now it only opens when lights are completely out. Thinking about maybe moving it down into a cove-ish area of my tank?? But is it okay to place it directly into the sand bed?

Mine will do that every once in a while. Usually after my clown irritates it.

I read that they shed a layer periodically to clean themselves off and that it’s totally normal!
