Very cool rics. Not to go OT, but how long have you had the elegance?

About 8 months or so it was labled from the wholesaler as an aquacultured elegance. Not sure about that but it is extreamly healthy and has eaten a Flame wrasse and some snails, hemits. When I bought it it was about the size of a baseball now about a the size of a nerf football......

I got that on my honeymoon at a shop in Florida 6 years ago, it's about 12'' across and about 4'' deep.....I personally have never seen one that big and in perfect condtion like that....At some point I am going to have to sell it or donate it to Shedds or something.

Love your Ricordea Valley! That red 'shroom is especially gorgeous.

I have been through many of them Ultra Red/Hot pink yumas and I think I have finally figured out the right steps to get them over the acclimation hump...They seem to be far more sensitive then the typical ricordea(Florida) and even more then regular yumas....

First Temp acclimate, then I water acclimate over a long period of time 1 hr-2hr, then the most important is Photoacclimation. This is by far the hardest one for me in the past cause you really want to get them out in the open so they can be seen and show off their colors. I have lost many a yuma to not acclimating or pulling them out to soon into the light. I usually photoacclimate for about a month or so, I usually wait till they stretch for more light then I move them out a little bit at a time....So far(knock on wood) since I have stuck to this I have had 100% success.

Once the clam attaches it will be rearranged a bit so it is nestled in so it looks a bit more natural.

Some things have been moved around in the valley and a clam added here soon....But you get the idea...
