I been reefing for only 3 months but just noticed this litlle guy on top of my crab. I do have one adult size trochus snail but not sure if this is her baby or it was a hitchhiker from new corals.

my trochus snails spawned about a month ago. I now have two baby trochus. They are currently about 5millimeters and spend most of their time on the front glass. And they look exactly like yours. So my guess is a trochus for sure.

That would be awesome, thank you.

I'm willing to bet $5 that is a baby banded trochus snail cleaning the larger snail. I started with 4, have been upwards to 120 after they spawned. I have seeded three aquariums with banded trochus and had enough left over to trade to my LFS.

Looks like a (i know I am not spelling this right) collinista snail. harmless. I have hundreds in my tank . @ISpeakForTheSeas can give you the correct spelling.
Haha, you were pretty close on the spelling - Collonista.

OP, if you only have one adult Trochus, then it would most likely be a Collonista snail - either way, the little snail is harmless/beneficial; so it's a keeper.

I had this same question a couple months ago. OP it is a Collonista snail. Looks identical to mine. For what its worth they seem to do the same job just a lot smaller. I dont know if I got a bunch of them in on some corals or if they are breeding as I have quite a few of them. Hoping they are not like the freshwater version of Milesian trumpet snails. The info I got on them is they can breed in aquariums but are usually not prolific.

I just had the same thing happen!

It looked that small a month ago (size of a bb) and now I just saw it again and it's 10x bigger but still pretty small, almost the size of a small marble. They grow fast!
