Well my awesome friend decided to give me his 65g freshwater aquarium a few weeks ago. He no longer had the desire to keep up with it and offered to just give it to me if i would come take everything down. Definitely score of the year for me.
So i broke out all my stuff from my old 55g system i had setup about 5yrs ago and im back in the game. Im super excited to be back in the hobby and see how everything has evolved over the past few years. R2R has been awesome for me the last few weeks getting caught up on info.
Hear are a few of my plans for the new system.
Im using my old 55g, still coverd in coraline for the sump. Ill be using a mix of pakani, fiji, and tonga dry rock to start with, about 90-100lbs all together as well as a block of marinepure. Im doing a diy overflow system to get water to the sump, but have not decided on the specific return pump yet, but will be around the 700-1000gph range. Ill be using my old coralife 125 skimmer until i can upgrade. Im still having a hard time deciding between tunze or vortech controllable powerheads, but it will be one of the 2. I will be using the 225w t5 lighting from my last set up loaded with ati bulbs. I just set up my brs ro/di unit today and will start curing rock for the next few weeks. Ill be using a mix of tahitian moon and Hawaiian black sand for substrate.
Ill upload a couple pics of the aquascape i came up with and a few shots of some slow progress.
