I wouldn’t think deep cell would work long enough. Not sure though![]()
Anyone have experience using a 12v deep cycle battery and a aeration setup to keep a tank alive during a long term power outage??
That's a great idea! I do this but with the smaller floating bucket aerators. A deep cycle marine battery runs 1 of these for Just over 24hrs. If you have 2 batteries with a way to charge, even a vehicle or boat, it's feasible. Ideally, a generator is the way to go. I am here in Miami keeping my fingers crossed tonight cause I don't got a generator. Things are looking a little better for us, moving west.
Just south in Pompano beachI'm a little north in Boynton Beach, I'm hoping to make it through with only a short outage. I'd have to borrow a generator from my parents but I was thinking this would be a good over night solution.
Hook up a solar panel to that and you would really have a sweet setup.

My brother is in boynton beach. Hope all you Floridians fair well during the storm.
I must've said this a 100 times but your best bet is a vortech pump hooked up to a dry cell. I ran an mp40 for almost 5 days on a single charge when I lost power during hurricane Irene years back. I didn't lose a thing in my tank.

Can you provide a link to the type of battery I need and any other parts necessary to make this work. With Irma hitting us and now Maria coming again I want to have this set up ready.
