Hi, this is my first post here but ive read alot of your valuable insight and knowledge. I have a reef tank now with a hob skimmer. Im moving to a 125 gallon aquarium but i want to run a sump, the bottom is tempered, i called the manufacturer and the walls are not. I want to run two custom made corner weirs (sp) with a standpipe and the bulkheads coming from the backwall towards the bottom, my question is, is there a problem doing it this way? And if so how should i do it? Thank you in advance.

Having two can be a major pain and if the pvc pipes are the correct size then it would be necessary on your tank.

If you go the Herbie route, then 1" drain and 1.5" emergency should be good.

You could do it on the end. you don't necessarily need the holes staggered, you just cut the pipes to different lengths.

You can but you want them at least twice the diameter of the hole, away from any seam. for example if the hole is 4" diameter, drill the hole 8" from any seam.

Not in this case because the Herbie stand pipes will be taller than the holes.

Remember that wherever you cut them, when the pump is off the tank will siphon down to that level.
