Hello Reef Family can any of you guys give some advice on my Bacteria Bloom issue? This is my Scenario……I think this is what cause my bloom on Aug. 12th I added a Flame Angel, LemonPeel Angel, Diamond Goby, Mandarin and a Fire Shrimp. None of these guys are big and the mandarin died after about 24hrs due to shipping. My tank is about 125 gallons and is about 10 months old. Salinity(1.025), PH(8), Phosphate(.04), Nitrate(1) Ca(440), KH(8.7), Mg (1320). I just start running my skimmer last week. If there’s nothing wrong how long should this take if I wait it out or do I need to get a UV Sterilizer? Suggestion on a affordable for my tank. Thanks in Advance guys!

Bacteria blooms are pretty easy to kill with UV. If you want something temporary, a 18 watt drop-in will clear a 150 in a couple days. If looking for a permanent UV solution then I recommend 36-watt or higher for a 150.

Any suggestions on a brand? Any chance running Chemi-Pure Blue will clear it up?

I hear the green killing machine has done really well for some people over on reddit. And it doesn't break the wallet. I'm in abiocube 32 and just bought the one meant for it and it's not very powerful but it cleared my water up the very next day.

Yea that’s what I used, the 24w one. Cleared it in one day.
