Bacterial Infection?

So a little back story. I recently moved into a new house and built a coral room, shortly after moving my fish and corals i had a bad bacteria bloom which i was able to get under control in 2 days dosing bottled bacteria and heavy skimming.

About 4 days ago some of my fish started showing what i thought was ich at first, since i do have a large purple tang that bullies the chocolate and gem tang. Moved my other 2 tangs from the frag tank into the 90g to get away from the purple tang, next day i lost the chocolate tang. The gem tang stopped eating and was beat up by the purple tang, after 1 day i moved it into QT for what i thought was ich but she only declinded further in copper.

I had moved my 2" blue tang and vlamingi from a separate system into my 90g to grow out prior to all of this. 4 days later i found them both dead in the mornjng, both showed no signs and were eating the night before. Tail spot blenny i found dead today which was the last fish in the 90g tank.

Today i found my purple tang and mandarin both showint signs of what i think is some sort of bacterial infection? I did not take pics/video of the other fish that have passed. I have moved both fish into QT and dosed rally pro which is what i had on hand.


What am i dealing with here and best approach to medicate the? Also in my coral system all that's left is a leopard wrasse which is currently showing no signs and eating. The frag tank and 90g both share a sump. Dont mind the mess, i literally just got everything moved and plumbed

This does look to be bacterial. For starters, bump up the filtration adding a hang on back power filter but remove the carbon from filter pouch. Add an air stone also. Treat tank with seachem neoplex for 14 days and keep an eye on dragonette goby who is breathing a little heavy and remove seen on bottom in video

Yeah i was in a rush and had to leave, i have the hang on the back sitting there ready.

Thank you for the reply, I'll order some neoplex and do a 100% water change when it comes in. On the bottom is just a little bit of sand left over from when i had leopard wrasses in QT. I'll suck it out when i change the water

@vetteguy53081 forgot to ask about the main system. Seeing this infection spread throughout the system is there a waiting period before adding new fish? Or how do i ensure incoming fish later do not get infected.

Treat and allow and extra 7 days to assure there is no reoccurrence. I would hold off with any additions for now

100% no plans on introducing any new fish at the moment. Just wanted to ensure it's something that will go away on its own before i make another order in a couple months

I think this is an uncontrolled protozoan infection. There could be a secondary bacterial infection issue, but “stale ich” looks like this, as does velvet.

Stale ich is just a term used to describe what long-term ich infections look like. It throws a lot of people off because they expect ich to just be little white dots on the fish's body and fins. Long term ich morphs into other symptoms - cloudy skin, no real spots to speak of, lethargy and rapid breathing.

Neoplex has no direct benefit against protozoans, but can help with secondary bacterial infections caused by the protozoans.

What I see in the fish is cloudy skin, minor spotting, glassy eyes and rapid breathing. Primary bacterial infections (those that just start up out of the blue and infect multiple fish) are exceedingly rare.
