The eating part is tough. These fish a notoriously difficult feeders. I’ve tried LRS, spirulina mysis, PE mysis, spirulina brine, cyclops, live bloodworms, frozen bloodworms, live clam, frozen clam, nori, Masstick (two types: powder and paste), TDO pellets (extra small, small and medium), spectrum pellets (small and medium), algae wafers, spriulina brine, baby brine (frozen), live copepods, acropora frags, live sponges, LRS, angel and butterfly frozen blend, Mega marine algae (hikari). If this is truly Uronema that’s erupted through the scales what’s the timeline? It’s been almost a week since noticing it, and he’s still acting perfectly normal. Still not eating but he hasn’t eaten since day 1. So I’m not necessarily attributing that to this.
I thought once you have an internal uronema issue it was a pretty expedited timeline, like a couple of days.
Correct - with midbody Uronema, death usually shows up in 3 days, with the fish dying with its mouth open in many cases. This is due to internal organs being affected.
In the case of your fish, this either isn’t Uronema, or because it is in the caudal peduncle, no vital organs are involved, so death isn’t as rapid.
The not eating is still the biggest issue here…..

Just picked up some frozen rotifers and plankton - basically the only foods I’ve found I haven’t tried yet. I’ve got baby brine hatching tomorrow.
I don’t have access to live blackworms unfortunately. Swimming seems totally fine. Outside of the physical wound he seems perfectly fine. No awkward swimming, not shy, no rapid breathing. The eating part is tough. These fish a notoriously difficult feeders. Sounds like the one I had. What about live black worms? If you have access to them.
How is its swimming? Seem off?
