wondering if there is a compelling reason to have baffles between the fuge and return? I thought the main purpose of baffles was to reduce micro bubbles from the skimmer. Just trying to save some space.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

I apologize, I was going to include a single baffle to keep the water level and have it overflow into the return section. I am hoping that would keep any macro away from the return. I just didn't want to set up a 3 baffle configuration as that will likely take up 2" of space.

main purpose is to keep a constant water level for the skimmer..... all the evap takes place in the return section...;) other reasons are bubble control, a wall for macro etc....

Sweet, sounds like i can go with a single baffle to seperate the fuge and return. I am planning a 3 baffle configuration between the skimmer and return.

Other then keeping the macro outta the pump the big concern IMHO is to form seperate sump and refugium areas. that way the refugium are can remain almost totally full with the water level varying (evaporation, refill, drains, etc) in the sump area. And being as the level in the sump area now varies faster, it also makes adjusting the pump's intake level easier.
