I’m trying to replace a ballast, the white one. With the black one I bought at lowes for a 2 bulb 24watt diy fixture. I wired it up but could not get the bulbs to come on. Is it compatible with the white ballast?

It looks like your old ballast is a HO ballast - the most common type of T5 for aquarium. The new seem to be a HE (or standard) type of ballast - most used in real estate lighting where efficiency is most important.

So that means it will not turn the bulbs on? Sorry, I’m not to smart in these areas. Lol I have the exact ho ballast on its way from brs. But if the other is not going to work I can return it to lowes before I loose the receipt.

It can still be that you have bad lamps but probably will in not work for your 24 W HO lamps. You have to look at the spec (red circle)
