Anyone else have a Bangaii female pair with one male get him brooding a mouth full of eggs then pair up with another male?

Thought they pair bonded, but she is now shimmying up and doing the little 'mate me' dance to another male. Little minx!

Its actually a common practice in breeding to have multiple males per female. Sometimes they remove the male while he is holding and put a second male in with the female. It does tend to reduce the burden on the one male, who can nearly starve to death if he goes from releasing the juvis to holding again right away.

I never new Bangaii formed love triangles, learn something new every day! Gotta love nature!

There is a third male in there as well and all the males hold there own territory in a 180 gal tank so never conflicted with each other, I presume having space increases the odds for females having multiple mates? The largest original male has taken himself off to a quiet corner to brood.

My lucky lady only laid 8 days ago. How often can females produce eggs? Her first batch I believe is small so perhaps she still has a few to lay?

I must admit I am very pleased, was a ambition to breed Bangaii/Bangaii so one female with her own harrem is wonderful.

I just going to have to set up a second breeder tank to raise the fry.
