Bangaii Cardinal died

Hello
I bought two (unsexed) Cardinals and one didn’t make it thru quarantine. Can I just purchase a single and add to the tank with my other? There seemed to some debate at my LFS on how to proceed. Can Bangaii get along in odd numbers? Or should they always be in pairs?

One can get along just fine. If they're in pairs, wants to be a male/female bonded pair. Two unsexed - well, you might get lucky, you might not.

Agree. IME bangai struggle in newly set up qt but do fine in more cycled QT

That could have been an issue. My QT is only about a month old.
