Cleaned the crib and added a zip tie Urchin, one went MIA (to close to the edge, I think my wrasse got him) and 2 are looking like they aren't going to make it. The rest look strong.

Following, very cool.

What is the purpose of the zip tie urchin?
In the wild the father usually spits them out into a coral or an urchin, they use it for protection from predators, so just a little piece of home for them

Awe I hate to read that. I’m sure Dad will hold for you again.

I am very interested in cardinals. I raise mouthbrooding bettas, so this will be a fun adventure. I have a question though. I have a ziss breeder box. How tiny are the fry upon release? Does he spit before free swimming? I would have to find something other than the mesh used on this box, I think it’s just ss but I’m sure it would rust. It’s a little larger than the box you had. Have you ever tried one before? I could possibly use the plastic window screen instead.

Good luck with the pair, I hope they decide to spawn again soon.

Those are nice as well. I have two of them. Good luck with Jesus! Maybe a few more will pop up and you can save them too
