Bashsea Bio Space Reactors - Everything you need to know!

How can a bio-filter not work? I'm not sure I understand the nature of the complaints? (Curious too cuz I've looked at these a couple times.) It's basically a small Ultima filter...kinda tried-and-true design, but not common in reefing.

Seems like they've started putting more details on the product page:

That's the old model we are referring to the newer bio space reactors supposed to take the place of surface area such as found on lots of pounds of live rock

I’ve being running a 6-2 for several months now and it has been working for me. I agree setting it up was a pain in the butt being there were no instructions. I was using a Sicce 2.0 that was recommended for it but that did not move all the media. About 15-20% was sticking at the top. I switched it out for a Sicce 4.0 that I had laying around and now all the media is moving. Of course I don’t know if it’s too fast or not but seems to be working. I’ve stopped vodka dosing since adding it as it is keeping my numbers in check.

I ended up putting a spare sicce SDC 6.0 on mine and it still clogs at the top regardless of whatever I try. If you look at the backside where the nozzle is pointing it gives the impression that its working but then the frontside it just clogs up. To clear I usually once a week pull the hose for 5 seconds let air drop the entire media bed then turn it back on. It spins like crazy then until it purges the 3-5 inches of air out then it just goes right back to this.

So this is 4 hrs later the air has not completely purged still about 1/2 inch gap and it works perfect. This issue seems to be when all air is purged and the media is able to get up behind the top nozzle it forms a block that grows. If there were some way to keep this little gap in here all would be well but I have not come up with a way to do that.
