Where is the best place to place 1 of these? My wife got me 1 and have no clue where the best to set it up is. Do I want under my stand or do I need to place away?

How much are sump pumps like the pumps used in the hobby? (Talking power difference if any) Haven't hooked up yet and it came from Best Buy I'm a wee bit hesitant because it says a sump pump could ruin it.
