Just for funsies and the opposite of the coin, I made the opposite swap. I went from Giesemann MH/T5 hybrid (Phoenix 14k 250W with 2 ATI Purple Plus and 2 ATI Blue Plus) with LED supplementation (BML Actinic Strip) to straight LEDS (2x ReeFi Extremes) approximately 2 weeks ago. Went from about 400W+ at peak photoperiod to down 270W

Surprisingly, my alk consumption has increased slightly (not by anything huge though). This past weekend, I reviewed the weekly growth pictures I take regularly. Thought I'd share for those interested in what has happened with my growth since swapping to LEDs. So far I'm confident in saying that, growth didn't skip a beat going from a MH/T5/LED Hybrid to LED. I never thought that I'd say this, but coloration may actually even have improved a bit.

Enough talk, here are growth pictures of my acropora over the past 2 weeks. The first set of pictures is 1 week (May 15th) before I changed lights and the second set is 1 week after light change (May 28th).

Thank you for you’re input! That is nice growth! Have you considered supplementing the led with t5s?

I suspect not. I have two fixtures over my tank, which has a footprint of 36x24. I should have more than adequate coverage to minimize shading.
