beginner equipment ?

Hello ,Im wanting to get better pictures than i can with my iphone ive taken 100s and only a couple look any good so its time to take the plunge.
All this camera talk is still fuzzy but im wanting to get some equipment i will not have to replace in a year but is also easy on the wallet of course.
