Hello all! We're looking to get into Saltwater :)
I'm hoping to get into this with <$1500 to start (Of course there will be additional/re-occurring costs)
Just curious from the perspective of an experienced hobbyist; does this seem like a decent deal?

I'm being told by the seller I'll really just need a light to get started, setup is posted for $600 USD.
Details below, thank you for any insight!

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

What I will say is that many here at R2R have had problems with Red Sea brand tanks leaking, and not just a little drip, drip, drip, I'm talking about catastrophic failures. I would do a search for "Red Sea tank failure" and decide for yourself.

That said, Red Sea system are not cheap, and on face value the $600 is probably a pretty good deal. But in my experience, it's incredibly difficult to sell an entire system. I'd be willing to bet that if you offered them $300-$400, they'd probably tank it 🙂

Good luck!

I wouldn't buy a Red Sea tank with all the failures those tank have had.

I would not take a Red Sea tank for free.
