Hey Reefing Gurus!
I'm SO excited to finally be diving into the world of reef tanks! I've been dreaming of a vibrant, thriving 55-gallon reef for ages, and I'm finally ready to take the plunge. But, I'm a total newbie and need some serious guidance.
My biggest question right now is about sumps. I've heard they're essential, but I'm not entirely sure why or how to choose the right one. Should I definitely go with a sump for my 55-gallon? And if so, what size would you recommend?
Also, if I do go the sump route, I'm guessing I'll need a different stand than a standard aquarium stand. What kind of stand should I be looking for to accommodate a sump? Any specific features or brands you'd suggest?
Honestly, I'm open to any and all advice you have for a complete beginner. Things like:
* Essential equipment beyond the tank and sump
* Good starting fish and coral for a 55-gallon
* Tips for cycling the tank properly
* Any common mistakes to avoid
I'm super eager to learn and create a beautiful reef tank. Thanks in advance for your help!
