Behavior of candy canes

I was going around my tank, shinning light in the dark looking to see if I got some night creatures like I'm sure everybody else has done. And I came to the candy cane. Which I never seen it like this. The inside was sticking up, the outer part low. Is that natural behavior at night? I'll post a pic.

+1 that is similar to my acans at night theyd be really flat (vs normal cupped up shape) but all the feeder tentacles are out in force

When I first got my candy cane, I thought something was wrong since it never ate and I never saw the feeding tentacles. Then, one night I happened to be looking at the tank and saw them out.

Yes, normal feeding behavior for lps corals.

You should see a scoly eat. It will knock your socks off.

You guys have posted very nice pics of your hungry candy canes. I've had mine for almost two months and yet haven't seen the tentacles. since you fellow reefers say it's normal then me's not going to worry about it. Thanks

ive heard corals can be somewhat trained to feeding times and also if theres no predators in the tank then they might even leave the tentacles out. mine seem to respond like that for a while when i get them they'll stay pretty much closed and slowly over time and feedings they'll stay out more often and longer
