My "holy grail" fish are a trio of Bellus Angels. Unfortunately males seem to be in short supply right now. If I add 2 or 3 females will one transition to male or will they just pick each other off?

TIA

1 should change,,, but later another may change and the first male might revert back to female ... happened in my tank!

I kept my Watanabei angel for 6 years and she never showed any hint of changing to male. Some do, some don't. :D
IME, you should have at least 2 females ( even different genicanthus types) for 1 to change...

I'm having a hard time finding these guys of course. Can I buy one female, then add another later?

I’ve had 2 female bellus angels for about a year. Neither ever changed and they didn’t like each other but weren’t too aggressive.

I wouldn’t bet on it changing...

So females of different genicathus species will get along?

Yes I have a wantanabei (female) and bellus (transitioning to male) together which get along fine.

Thank you for all of the replies! Of course 2 days after I post this DD has 3 female Bellus Angels LOL.

We have our big local frag swap in a couple of weeks so I think I will budget for that, and focus on the angel fish after our bank account recovers.

I've never purchased from TSM, any reviews?

TSM is one of the better fish vendors IMO. They QT all of their fish.
