Sharing a couple of come-back stories here. Feel free to share your most dramatic brushes with Davy Jones' Locker!
This was my golden octospawn that went into my office 40 from my office 10g nano. Bushy and bright.
Placement or flow or something else was not working for it, and it started a slow decline.
Eventually, it only had a few polyps remaining that could be counted by hand.
Action was to try and keep nutrients up and to aggressively feed it carefully with TDO pellets mixed with OysterFeast/PhytoFeast. Little by little it started sprouting polyps again and is now bushy and bright again. Probably about a 3-4 month recovery.
And here's another story about my glorious Koji Wada pink Nepthea that grew into this enormous tree.
Unfortunately, I skipped changing carbon for multiple weeks and it suddenly took a downhiill turn. The person I got it from, who propogates these corals specifically, believes it was the neighboring toadstools releasing terpenes that weren't being exported by carbon.
The whole main stalk melted and I was only able to cut off a few non-squishy ends of branches.
First put them in a tub with rubble hoping they would attach. They did not, just continued melting.
But a few of them had enough sand/debris on their bottoms that I could glue them onto plugs. These are still alive and growing.
And a two other small pieces blew around, disappeared, and reappeared attached to rocks. They are still alive and growing, totally 4 survivors from the Koji Wada meltdown. Changing carbon every 2 weeks now instead of 4 weeks (think I went 6 or 7 weeks with no change when they began to melt).
Always nice when you're able to recover from what seems a hopeless situation!
