I’ve created a regime to really dial in my parameters. It involves daily dosing:

-0.4g kh buffer (unsure of brand)
-16g magnesium (seachem dry)
Haven’t got a calcium supplement yet.

Can people recommend good/better brands?
Am I better to stick to something like all-for-reef?
I feel like with dry dosing I am adding a lot of stuff daily to the tank maybe liquid is the way to go.

Bi-monthly water changes of 10% and manually dose All For Reef as needed. That's probably all you need to do.
Yeah everyone says that weekly a water change should be enough. I do 20L water change (which is like 40% tank volume) every week and all my Params are so low.

I really don’t know what is wrong with my tank. Haha. It habitually stays at :
Kh 7
Mg 1200
Ca 400
No3 0
Po4 0
without daily dosing.

My corals never seem to thrive, kh is consumed at like 0.7 per day. I put so much magnesium into the tank daily it concerns me. I am hoping if I can get to ideal params all-for-reef will help me maintain them.

All-for-reef is a good choice, what is the tank stocked with? You are correct that water changes alone won’t maintain a tank stocked with an appreciable amount of corals.

The first question anyone should be asking is what salt brand your using? If it's mixing low in elements, it might explain the low numbers your seeing.

You should not be adding magnesium daily as it is used up way slower then ALK or CAL.

Only couple clowns and 5 softie/LPS frags. 5 hermits.

I am using h2ocean, I switched to this from quantum aquatics mixed reef because of low Parameters but they have remained low. I personally don’t think it’s the salt but I might test it pre water change to find out.

I am only dosing magnesium up until 1360 they will stop and add as required.

H2ocean classic mixes up to 9dkh, 440 CAL, and 1350 mag according to thier website. So probably not the salt, unless your mixing it low on the salinity scale.

Yeah it’s a real pain. I’m starting to think it’s just the way this tank is. I was aware bigger Param swings come with nanos but I didn’t think it would be this hard to maintain them.

Naturally, I’d expect kh higher than 7 without the need to dose.
