I just got my first AIO nano and I’m not sure what the best set up for each chamber is? I currently have live rock rubble, chaeto, and filter floss but I am trying to ditch the chaeto in such a small system it makes less sense. What works well for you guys?

I currently have a 125 gallon with a sump and pretty big refugium so obviously what works for me there is going to be a little different than my small AIO tank.

What nano AIO is it? Is it a IM? You should also be able to fit a skimmer in the back chamber.

I run floss, carbon, and a skimmer in my Tideline AIO. There are some bioballs back there as well that helped push the cycle. I’ve historically ran a small fuge with chaeto but prefer to keep things simpler these days.

Once you have some live rock in your Display you could even remove the rubble from the back.
IMO you don't NEED the chaeto. especially depending on your rockwork and how stable you can get your parameters.

Chaeto would be good for pods etc so long as you can keep it going and don't end up stripping your water column of nutrients with it.

What should I replace the chaeto with to maximize the small space? More rubble, bioballs, floss, carbon?
Depends on water quality and goals, really. Carbon will help remove toxins, bioballs can help process nutrients, and floss will take larger particles out of the water.

Thats exactly what i run in my 10 gallon AIO

Chamber A: floss first, then a bag of Carbon inside a 3D printed cup with separate chambers. Its the same diameter as the factory filter sock holder so it just drops right in.

Chamber B: Filter floss stage 2 incase stage 1 misses it, lays on top of a 3D printed media basket filled with marine pure gems and 2 bags of seachem matrix. I went heavy on the bio media

Chamber C just houses the heater, probes, ato sensor etc..

My nitrates have been < 5 steady. Ive got 3 fish. Might add a fourth.
