Best splitter for RODI?

I've been using the brass 2 way hose splitters for my RODI for years. I split the cold water for my washing machine for my RODI, which I assume is what most people do. When I lived with my parents I used the same thing in their laundry room for my RODI and I never disconnected it when I moved out years ago. Last week that splitter busted in half and flooded their laundry room, part of their living room and the basement. So of course now I'm paranoid about my own house since I use the same splitter and my laundry room is on the second floor! I'm assuming that what happened at my folks house is more of a freak thing considering myself and everyone I know has been using the same type of splitter for years. But just wondering what everyone else uses?

I need one that splits the valve, this is what im using now and also what busted at my parents home.

Well, if you look good you would have seen the sink or more durable brass splitter.
I don't think you can get a better one than the brass.
You can also go in the wall and hard plumb it with schedule 40 PVC with a reducer to 1/8 for your hook up or use a hose bib adapter on the new to be installed T

I use the same type of splitter you do and have never thought a second about it. I've also never seen one of these split. Did they have a pressure surge or something? Very interested to know.

We never really found out what happened. They were actually on vacation when it happened and came home to everything flooded. They think it was only leaking for about 2-3 hours. But they removed the splitter and haven't had any problems since. Just makes me paranoid now.

I have seen those made of what I'm going to call white metal.....it's not brass.....very easily and quickly corrode up. I could see on of these splitters eventually crapping out. I would think, as mentioned, if you get one made of brass, that you'd be good to go.

It busted in half or started leaking? Make sure to tape your threads, but don't over apply and don't over tighten because you could crack the fitting. I'd stick with the brass over the plastic. It will be more expensive but look for watts or brass craft. Idk but I think it's kinda like different quality stainless steels.

It busted in half after being there for years. I'm just going to get a higher quality one for my house. The one that busted was a cheapo from harbor freight

I have come to learn harbor freight stuff is not reliable.. had a 6 ton press crack less than a week having it. Obviously it's completely different story; but their stuff seems to not really be reliable.

Oh I know harbor freight is junk lol I'm an auto tech and every tool I have ever gotten from them has busted shortly after I start using it

Harbor freight stuff has it uses. You know, like weighing down trash can liners. lol
