What is the best temperature for your reef aquarium?
77?
78?
79?
80?
81?

Does a lower temp help control algae growth?

Does higher Temp benefit coral growth?

How important is temp stability?

What's you experience?

There's really not a set temp for a reef as long you stay with in norms.
I have had tanks that flourish at 75 and as well at 82.
Common sense need to be used here as large temp swings are never good of course.
Golden rule is to stay between 77 and 80 somewhat.
if you turn this into a poll your best answer will between 78 and 79.
Hope this helped you a bit.

Mine is usually between 73-74. It's been like this since the start of my set up. No issues what's so ever. But then again I haven't ramped it up to notice a difference. In summer it shoots up 84-86. And everything still seems normal

I forgot to mention that I was in Egypt early Jan 2017. And the sea temperature was around the 72 mark. I went snorkelling and fish and corals looked amazing so I'm guessing a reef can tolerate a variety of temp as long as it's not a quick jump that will shock the system

I think it's more about picking a small temp range and stick to it. You don't want your tank swinging from 74 to 80.

I'm on the struggle bus with this right now. Tank always stayed at 80-83 at the highest. Now it creeping up to 84 and that makes me really nervous. Been tweaking every day trying to dial it in. I'd prefer about 79 to keep it in the middle for my comfort

It's winter, why is your tank so warm? 84°?
