Reef-building corals cannot tolerate water temperatures below 64° Fahrenheit (18° Celsius). Many grow optimally in water temperatures between 73° and 84° Fahrenheit (23°–29°Celsius), but some can tolerate temperatures as high as 104° Fahrenheit (40° Celsius) for short periods.Jan 7, 2020The optimal calcification temperature is between 26 and 27C. Above or below that and calcification slows dramatically.
IMO controlled temperature swings could be beneficial for reef environments, in Natural reefs temperature takes a big part of coral behaviour.
More water volume and more heating power. Also keeping the home the same temp helps a lot.how do you control temp swing? I set my heater at 78 already but it still swings

Controlling the temperature around the tank is probably the best way to control the temperature on your reef, for example air conditioning. Try and keep your house at a few degrees difference from the tank. That way your chiller/heater are not always playing catch up.how do you control temp swing? My controller...my temps doesn't fluctuates between a few points ( 75.1 - 75.3)how do you control temp swing? I set my heater at 78 already but it still swings
Right now my tank sets at 80.8 to 81 and has been that way since setting it up but I would like it to be around 78-79 especially once I start to put soft corals in or even around 76-77What is the best temperature for your reef aquarium?
77?
78?
79?
80?
81?
Does a lower temp help control algae growth?
Does higher Temp benefit coral growth?
How important is temp stability?
What's you experience?

I have a softie tank that runs around 79. Why would you want it cooler?Right now my tank sets at 80.8 to 81 and has been that way since setting it up but I would like it to be around 78-79 especially once I start to put soft corals in or even around 76-77
Most sites that sell corals suggest for softies that the temp be around 76-78 so that is why I was wanting to have it lower for when I start putting softies in the tank. should I leave it where it is at? will it be fine at 80?I have a softie tank that runs around 79. Why would you want it cooler?
