Hey all, I’m wondering what’s the best titanium heating element for use with a standalone kind of thermostat? I’ve been running the BRS heaters for maybe 4.5 years now, I had one go out around 2-3 years old, on my second now, wondering if the finnex or maybe another option I’m not aware of could be more reliable long term. I see Innovative marine sells the Helio heating elements but those don’t plug directly into a wall outlet, but if there was an adapter that seems like it could be a good option.

I run it on the Bayite 15A thermostat paired with the inkbird plastic temp probe as it comes with a steel probe, and then I have that plugged into the old Apex Jr as a safety net and also for monitoring. The Bayite is great but the weak point is that probe, my first one went bad after maybe 3 years and it was reading 76 degree water at 79 so keeping my tank at 76.

I’ve had good luck with Finnex over the years…

However, I did just use a 500W to speed-heat a 10G quarantine tank to temp in 20-ish mins yesterday… when I unplugged it, the plug/cord was suspiciously warm to the touch, indicating that they use a dead-minimum wire gauge (at least on that caged 500W model)! I may try shopping elsewhere in the future…
