Hey everyone. I hope you are all doing well. I have recently started to HATE color matching water testing kits. It's always very hard for me to color match. I am looking for a cheap solution, that gives me numbers with no colors. I know Hanna Checkers exist, but that stuff is crazy expensive. If I absolutely have to, I can maybe invest in a a couple of them that I know I will use a lot, but if rather not. Do you guys have any test kits that you recommend?

Most test kits are titration based - rather than to color match, you wait for a change in color.

For the color matching ones, which are usually Nitrate and phosphate you can use the Hanna checkers.

Personally, I find only the phosphate test to be difficult to distinguish, and I use the Hanna Phosphate ULR for it, the rest are the regular Salifert test kits.

IMO, the only testers without color matching that are worth buying are the Hanna checkers.

FWIW, hanna checkers are also color matching but they do the eye thing for you

There are spin devices but they are very low accuracy.

I use salifert for everything except Phosphate.

Hannas are a great investment and will last only needing to buy reagents down the road. Have owned my Hanna Alk checker for at least 10 years. I'm color blind and the titration testers are difficult for me to distinguish. Always had my son or wife read them. They are probably thankful I invested in the Hannas.
