Best way to add sand to an established tank?

As the title states. I would like to add some more sand to my tank.

many opinions on that. if it was mine, id never cap over detritus. id clean the current sb with a tank takedown, and add the new sand to the cleaned old sand. rinsing never sterilizes sand or makes it unable to nitrify, it just removes detritus. hardly anyone wants to do it this way, they'll cap the detritus. just rinse new sand free of all silt and add right in via a pvc pipe to direct it, ive done that before (but only added to clean sand)

Yep, that's the way to do it. ^^^
And not too fast. You'll still cloud your water a bit, but this will be the cleanest way.

I am with brandon on that but having done it on my way to a dsb, yea that or a plastic zip lock bag with a cut corner. Large cake piping bag.

Sorry... the pvc tube is what I would do. Easier to control the sand. Didn't realize the article was a different method.

I just used a cup and and dumped it lightly where I wanted it. It got a little cloudy, but was gone with in 10-15 min. The sand I used was natures ocean.

I have used both of these methods... the bag method is the best as long as you go slow

I've used a large ziplock bag before. Put sand in bag, zip almost fully close and put in tank, let it slowly fill with water, sink, and open at appropriate location.

I ended up putting the whole bag into the tank, cutting it open and gently pouring everything out. Clouded the water a little bit, but it's just about cleared up now.
