I wanted to know what would be the best way to mount one. I could mount it horizontally but I know it would work better vertically. What could I do? Thank you!

It’s actually better to mount it horizontally with the output barbs/plumbing facing up as it does a better job of ensuring that air is fully purged from the unit. Mounting it vertically, you run the risk of trapping air in the unit which can potentially lead to hotspots on the quartz sleeve.

Ah okay! Could I soft tube plumb it and have it faced up? Would that work still?

Between the two options, I would go with the 40 watt unit. Remember, those Red Sea tanks list system volume in imperial gallons. So your system is actually closer to 170 US gallons.

Is there any video on how to setup a uv through a dual return pump config?

No that I know of. By virtue of running dual return pumps, it allows you to dial in the correct flow rate through the UV sterilizer with one of the pumps. Hoever, how are you planning on dual return pumps in a 525xl? I thought there was only one return line up to the DT with the 525xls.

It should be pretty straightforward with flow control accomplished with ball valves. The benefit of using a separate pump to run a manifold is thatn you can place the manifold pump in one of the first chambers of the sump and have it output to the return section. You gain efficiency by not having to recycle/refilled water from the return section.

Sorry to hijack this thread. I was surprised by the imperial gallons comment as I also have Reefer 525XL and to make sure I have been dosing and medicating properly. Looking at Red Sea's website, they show both the water volume in liters as well as in gallons. 409L for the Display Tank Water Volume would translate to 90G(Imperial). I believe the chart below is listing the gallons in standard US Gallons.

Interesting... and the math certainly confirms this. Guess I was incorrect in my assumption.

Odd though, if you look at the Reefer 170 At 24.5x20x20, it is listed at 34 gallons, yet the Innovative Marine Nuvo 40 EXT at 23.5x20x19 is listed at 40 gallons. And in my case, my Deep Blue 57 rimless at 36x18x20 is listed at 57 gallons whereas the RSR 250 at 36x20x20 is listed at 54 gallons. I guess that’s why I always assumed that the volume discrepancy was because they measured in Imperial vs US gallons.
