Take two on this fish. This shipment was MUCH better than the last few have been. Still smaller than I'd like, but at least she isn't skinny. She is still very timid and hasn't yet strayed away from that pile of rocks on that side, but she's steady peckin away
On the stock lens, to get any good detail of anything, I've gotta be really really close. Took a bunch of pics today and maybe 1/10 of them were ok, and even less I kept lol
Got my new skimmer installed, the Bubble Magus Hero 180A. Also set up a makeshift algae scrubber. Was pretty much just getting it there and measuring intensity and such - looks like around 500 PAR (uncorrected) on the surface in the center, and around 300 PAR near the edges. Tomorrow I'm going to take out all the rock in that section and put a powerhead in there to give the scrubber more flow, and I'm going to rough up the scrubber's surface. Crossing my fingers that this scrubber gets going ASAP, looks like I'm in for a bumpy ride.
This was literally around 1/2" away from the front of hte lens.
This was the absolute maximum focal distance with the 35mm extension. Anything beyond the hammer could not be brought into focus.
I think the rest are using the 12mm extension.
Was playing with manual settings with a low ISO, but just turned out too dark. Need a better lens.
A big out of focus, but this feather duster is gorgeous.
I did an entire photoshoot of my big serpent star when I fed the tank earlier, but none of them turned out, even cranking up the exposure in Lightroom didn't help. Sigh. They were REALLY good macros, too.
Dumped about 30lbs of live rock from the display since now that dinos are taking over again I will not be using that rock to set up my nano tank. Moved some of my big rocks around, looks a LOT better, and my fish seem to all love it - they're moving all around the tank exploring, hopefully they'll keep that up and they're not just taking a look around to claim a spot lol
I also picked up a boyfriend for my ruby red. My wife named the female Lucy-fer and the male Gabriel. LOL
I also picked up two Springer's damsels. They're itty bitty and adorable
awesome video. i almost pulled the trigger on one yesterday. lfs had one for $20. dang cope pod need to hurry up. lol is there anyway to tell male and female apart?
Just like with any dragonet, the male dorsal fin will be much larger than the female.
I still can't believe that places sell them for $50-200 each, it's just ridiculous. They come from ONE place in the world and one importer, and they are basically a dime a dozen.
