Thank you, appreciate it.
They were some of my first fish in the system, about a year and 1/2.

I do think it was the product. I found another individual who had exactly the same thing happen to him. Same fish, all else is fine.

Yea it sucks, really sucks. They were great fish.

I have done a lot of research on refugium and cheato. I've noticed my cheato growth had slowed and turned yellow some. So I have read Randy's article on dosing Iron for macro algae. I found Seachem Florish Iron at LFS, did a Google search and found that Randy him self said he uses in a RC thread in 2006. I said bingo!

Bought it, took it home and dosed 1/2 of recommended dose. Mind you all the reading I've done basically said that there is practically no risk of overdose or hurting anything in the system. I still haven't found anything linking the deaths except for another article in 2015 where a guy had exactly the same thing happen, same product, same dead fish (2 yellow and 2 blue tangs). I found it after the fact though.

Sucks.

Just got my first Battle Box from Battle Corals and it's amazing. They are going to bring some really nice color to my tank.

Also if possible, how did you hook it up to turn on if the power went out?

Bought the BatteryMINDER from Amazon. Make sure it is the model for your battery type. I bought a Vortect battery backup cable and cut the battery end off. Spliced two eyelets to each lead. The fused one goes to + and the other -. The other end just goes to the Vortech controller.

Haven't touched my tank in 28 days and things went well. There was even a 10 hour power outage.

Still cloudy from feeding.

Time for a little update.

I had to leave town for 28 days on short notice. Had no time to prep my system but since I keep up with all my maintenance things went well. Power outage for 10 hours the first day gone apparently had little effect. My MP60 DIY battery system worked flawlessly. Only minor issue was my wife having to dump the skimmer bucket and turn it down some when power returned.

I was thrilled when I returned home, the tank looks amazing. The system is maturing very well, no algae and very little cyano.

Seems that literally keeping my hands off the system was extremely beneficial and all my SPS frags grew well. Even the Battle Corals pack I placed on the bottoms did great.

My wife bought me a new Tang to replace the Blue Tang I killed with Iron. This male Naso is huge, beautiful and has streamers.
