Thanks guys, we are making steady progress. Hopefully we will be ready to do some plumbing and get some water going in another week. We'll get some photos of the progress up here too.

Here are the latest pics, one system is running with tap water and we are filling and salting them all this week.....yay!!!


Brett did a good job plumbing.

All of our electrical is in plastic conduit with exterior "in use" covers so we can keep all da salt out.

We intend to paint the concrete block grey to match the floor.

This bad boy will help us get it all filled with RODI quick......1000 gpd(provided our warehouse had adequate wp).

Next week we will take delivery of a full on Neptune Apex system to control our equipment and allow us to monitor from our iPads or iPhones. CalmSeasQuest(our resident tech expert) will be helping us maximize what the Apex can do for us.

^^^ They don't have to be, here in MI we very rarely get a rumbler, and when it does come it is like "was that a car accident outside?"

We turned the center blocks the other way to add more stability front to back but like Poseidon said its very unlikely that we will ever see an earthquake large enough to do any damage. I can think of a couple of wholesalers that dry stacked block just like this and so far they have been fine.

what lighting system are yall going to utilize?

A better question would be what lighting aren't we going to use.

All of the raceways have only one type of coral in it. This is so it will be easier for us to meet the lighting needs of that type of coral and to avoid chemical warfare.

Tank 1 is acro colonies and frags that will be lit by 400 watt Radiums.
Tank 2 is either going to be more acros or maybe Palythoa and will be lit by 250 watt Radiums.
Tank 3 will be acans, micro's, Hillae etc.... and will be lit with T5's.
Tank 4 is our chalice tank and once again T5.
Tank 5 will be a softy tank, more Paly's, zoo's, Ricordia and T5's or Radions.
Tank 6 I have no idea what we are putting in here but I am sure we will think of something.

On the opposite wall we have a 6'x3'x18" acrylic that will serve as our incoming system. Everything gets dipped and put in the incoming tank first until we are certain they have no pests.

On that same wall we plan two other 4'x8' raceways one of which will be just for proven captive grown items. If its collectable and known to grow well in captivity we will keep it and grow it. Not a single wild piece of coral will go in this system unless of course it grows well and is 100% free of pests.
