I have a few emeralds in my tank that I don't see very often. Usually just a claw sticking out of a crevice every now and then.

The other day I had a shed or dead moment when I saw a fairly large one sitting stationary on a piece of rockwork all day long. It wasn't in a place that was easy to access, so I figured it would take care of itself either way. There were shell parts in the area the next morning. Today I saw this monster peeking out of a hole nearby. For scale, that little cave is about 2.5" high. I'm not sure how big these guys get, but it's a monster compared to the others I have.

I think it’s at its max size, you must be feeding it really well! That’s awesome :)

That would look like a baby in comparison :) It would definitely disappear into my rockwork not to be seen for a long time!

Last month I lost the two I started with, probably over one and a half years. Their shell was about the size of a quarter. Their replacements look so puny.

I had a huge one before he sadly died. He was juiced up on reef roids. Must have had a heart attack.
Ah grabby hands! Lol thats why I call mine Hey Hey. After the crabs in Finding Nemo

I love Hey Hey! What a cute name for a cute crab. These guys are so adorable when you can direct feed them. Mine (Posey) is kind of shy but I've hand fed him a few times. Posey will gingerly extend one claw to grab the food after he gets over his skepticism.

Ha, Hey Hey makes me think of the chicken from Moana. I wouldn't have thought of Nemo :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I'm surprised at how fast mine can move. There was a large wad of frozen food floating by the crab the other day. Somehow it reached up a couple of inches and snagged it out of the water. Looked like an NBA player going after a rebound!

Hey Hey did that at first too but now sees my hand and puts both claws up and begs for food! So cute

Mithraxula decided to make an appearance out in the open today. It is a good 1" across at the carapace:

I'm a bit worried about it. I'm only a week or two away from introducing my snowflake eel to this tank.
Oh well the snowflake probably will eat him if Im being honest :( they eat crabs and shrimp being a pebbletooth eel
