Big New Clown

Hey guys. So I've had my tank for a little under a year. Got my first pair of ocellaris clownfish in February of this year. Unfortunately the bigger one didn't make it through quarantine, some sort of internal parasite. Anyway, the smaller clown has been thriving in my tank since then and I decided the get them a boyfriend/girlfriend. My new clown got here today and I specifically ordered a small one but it's almost twice the size of my current clown. I'm worried that my current one has already transitioned to female and they'll murder each other. Current clown is about 2 inches, new one I'd estimate is closer to 3 inches. I put the new one in quarantine, although ORA is less likely to have disease I'd rather err on the side of caution. I'm thinking my best bet is to take it to a LFS and just get a smaller one locally.

Thoughts?

TLDR: New Clown fish is way bigger than established clownfish. Should I chance it or swap for a smaller?

Shouldn't be a problem. I'd use a fish acclimation box for a couple days.

Really? I feel like they would fight to the death since my established one has been in there for 9 months and is already pretty territorial. I'll keep that in mind for next time. After having the new one in quarantine for a bit I'm come understand its personality more. The new bigger one is for sure a female, if not on the way to being one. She savagely attacks her reflection to the point that I was worried she would either break the glass or give herself brain damage :grinning-face-with-sweat:. I've spoken to my LFS and he agrees. He said he'd give me store credit.
