The amount of fish you keep is limited not by your skimmer but by the size of your tank and also the types of fish your keeping.

So to answer your question, what size tank and what fish do you plan on keeping?

to the OP, you might get more replies if you posted this in the hardware forum rather than the lighting forum.

To your question, it may help a little, but not that much. The more of any and all filtration and treatment of the water can help with the bioload due to the fish. And in the end, if you have enough filtration (i.e. skimmer, filter socks, GFO, carbon, live rock, refugium...) the tank size becomes the ultimate limitation.

I would say yes to a point. Your end limit is tank size and fish size. Having a good effective filteration setup will help process and remove more waste from a higher bioload.
