Since no one seems to have Ventralis Anthias in stock, I’m looking at alternatives. The bimaculatus Anthias looks pretty in most pics but in some it looks bland. Not sure what’s true.

Also, I’d like to keep a harem of 3-5 possibly. My question on that is tank size. I have a 47” CADE Peninsula with a light bio load at this point. Would 5 be too many?

I have one tang in the tank, a Kole tang, who is likely to get sold locally or taken to my LFS

Id say 3 and they are a beautiful anthias species. I have a pair atm.
Thanks, yeah I’m actually thinking three would be more appropriate.

I’d like to get QT since there’s a greater chance they have become accustomed to tank life and eating pellets.

The prices seem to vary quite a bit and I’m Leary of the vendors who have them for cheap. What would be a fair price for three QT?

I used TSM for mine and they were all healthy and happy. They have quality healthy Qt stock. One of 2 vendors I use for fish. Nice drive and all set.

What size tank is it? Bimacs are not bland. I’m done with trying ventralis. They all come in less than an inch for $300-500 and don’t handle QT well.

Thoughts on 5 bimacs in my CADE 1200 peninsula? They’re 2.5” at the moment

They’ve been QTd and are eating well.

I’m not set on 5 but I’m not sure 3 would give the schooling look that I want in my aquarium.

I would do 1-3 bimacs and a bunch of “filler” lyretails. That is what I had in my 120.

Bimacs are beautiful and hardy however males are extremely territorial and will chase any fish.

Personally I'd go for lyrtails or if you want something unique barbonius.

Good luck.
