So I recently got a biocube 32 and im looking for options to put in my 3 chambers, im chamber 1 which is the intake chamber i was thinking a protein skimmer. The only one that seems to work for biocube 32 without mods to the hood is the coralife biocube 32 skimmer, which i heard is a horrible skimmer. Are there anyother options for a skimmer to fit in chamber 1 without any mods? For chamber 2 im putting a intake media basket with the intake fuge basket beside that, and for chamber 3 I was to just put my heater with the pump for the filter. Im open to all opinions and anyother ideas on a better setup, thank you!! Saltwater newbie here lol

If you put the heater in chamber 3 with the return pump, watch the water level like a hawk. So possibly invest in an ATO. When I had my Biocube 16 I had to top it every few days. Thankfully, I had my heater in Chamber one so it was always submerged, but if I had it with the return pump, it would have been exposed to air and gotten ruined very quickly. Especially whenever I would go out of town for a week.

So would putting a protein skimmer in chamber 3 work?

Not sure. Never tried. Like you, the only one I know of that fits without having to modify anything is the Coralife Skimmer, but that is designed to go in chamber one.

I am gonna hit up #reefsquad. Hopefully someone has more experience with biocubes, particularly with adding a skimmer to one.

When I used the coralife skimmer I used in in chamber 1 along with a heater, I was never happy with the performance of the skimmer and quit using it over a year ago. Weekly water change will be just as effective. I agree with @El_Guapo13, I wouldn't use a heater in chamber 3. Running a media basket in 2. Tunze nano ato hitting chamber 3.

Hydor slim skim nano will fit in chamber 1 without a hood mod. You just have to pop off the back magnet holders and superglue them on. The level of the skimmer has to be adjusted just right so the hood will close. I have mine secured with the magnets and a zip strip you dont even notice. I'll post a pic If you'd like.

X 2 on chamber 2 and 3. I have a cobalt slim 150w heater in 3. And yes, you will need an ato.

Also, swap out those lights if you want anything decent to grow. Steve's LED's is what I recomend.
