I have a biocube 32 and trying to get the flow right in my mixed reef. I have a 400gph return pump and 1000gph slw-5 set to random and a 245gph korilla. All the corals seem to be in good health and are splitting but the hammers are puffy but aren’t extending real long which has led me to believe it might be too much. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated thanks!

The flow is fine to me. I notice some spots have lower flow than others, try moving the hammer if you want. For example, I notice the duncan moves less than the hammer, so maybe switch them around.

But thats just being picky, I think the flow is fine, the hammer is fine (my tanks have higher flow)

Move the Hammer to a position there is back and forth movement. I cut a thin 1/4” piece of plastic off of a resealable food bag top. Rubber banded it to a thin rod to find the perfect spot.

Thanks I feel like getting the flow right for all the different corals is the one thing I struggle with especially in a smaller tank

I’ve tried to create a back and forth flow but I feel like is difficult to do in such a small tank

Its very difficult for any one with any size tank. Whats worse is, every time you remove it for maintenance its so hard to get it back to exactly the same spot as before, and later on when corals grow and block more flow you need to rearrange it again. Its a never ending headache and it always seems like it can somehow be better, know what I mean? So, don't feel like your alone, we all struggle getting the flow right

Try a VCA Random Flow Generator in place of your return nozzle. I have one on my 29 Oceanic. Every other random flow I’ve had failed within a year. This one has no moving parts, and keeps on working.
