Got my biocube setup and cycled and I have my brand new Ehiem Titanium heater set to 78 and the water temp is 82. Why the variance? My house stays around 70 degrees. I set the heater back to 76 hoping that would make a difference but it’s still 82ish. Do you think I got a bad heater?

My 32 gal biocube with stock lights, an upgraded return pump and a hygger mini wave maker runs 79-80 with an ink bird running a fan at 80. House is at 72*. Summer with house at 75* the an runs a lot to stay under 80*. I have a heater but don't think it has ever turned on.

It’s 79 with the heater off since last night. Think that would be safe to add fish? Should I just roll with no heater and monitor it more closely?

The return pump may be oversized.

I was using a pond pump in a 20 gal to mix new water. The pump by itself raised the temp to 92 degrees.

How big is the return pump?

With the lid and pump on those things it insulates pretty well with the heat that comes from the pump etc,

Also check your heater for calibration etc.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
