Any updates on your purchases? Pictures?
I got some wonderful corals and the two clownfish are settling in nicely. I just have to glue the frags to the rocks and try to take pictures that aren’t 100% blue. Plan is to finish by New Year’s Eve! Lol.

thank you for checking in and keeping me motivated to update this thread!

Looking forward to seeing some pictures. Take a look at Orphek lenses. It slips over your phone and allows you to take great pictures even under blues. Not that expensive either.

Alright, I need to remove 2/3 of this monstrosity. Pretty sure its the reason I have difficulty targeting my magnesium and calcium targets. My lfs still have frags from the last time I fragged it. Anyone in NE OH or NW PA who wants a free frag, it’s yours. I really don’t want any of my animals in the trash.

Come on, I’ll meet you half way in Pittsburgh! I keep carbon in my middle compartment and switch it out about every 3-4 weeks. I have been dosing, manually, calcium and magnesium to try and keep my levels at my target. This YouTube video is what I based my filtration on and it seems to be working well.

Alright, I’ve been sick for over three weeks and was in the hospital last week getting discharged in the afternoon on Christmas Eve. My family went to my wife’s side of the family Christmas Party. I was asleep at 9:15 pm. Tank hasn’t seen a water change in 3 weeks ( causes me anxiety, I’m one of those wierdos who enjoys doing water changes), that is being fixed today. Finally got my prints mounted, my wife and daughter helped but didn’t seem as pleased as me. Light is lacking due to the Christmas tree taking the place of a table and lamp.

Hey Kev,
Just seeing this post. Hope you are ok and it was a temporary illness. So nice to see your family helping to keep your special space looking good.

Hey thanks, it’s funny my wife and daughter have the least amount of interest in my tank. When I told the kids what I wanted, my son just told me, my wife said “I don’t want that stuff on my wall.” It’s been a standing joke for over two years that even though my tank is in the most used room in the house, my wife doesn’t even know we have a tank. My boys took care of my tank while I was in the hospital and they did a good job.

They knew it was important to Dad

It doesn’t happen very often but this morning I was looking at my tank and all the corals looked their best, color, extension and movement. It is more typical at least one looks unhappy and of course it is all I can focus on and ignore the rest that look great. Just thought I’d share, I know you have all experienced this and I’m not sure when it will happen again.

Alright, I got to some fragging done today, evidently a gentleman is in need of a place to lay his eggs. Man, my second and third attempt at fragging my monti cap, they are like potatoe chips and break into multiple pieces. I watched two videos, again, on YouTub, they make it look so easy. I got big chunky birdsnest and am meeting a man in the parking lot in front of my office in Cleveland tomorrow morning. This is going to feel like a drug deal. This is my business model: keep giving the birdsnest free until the person becomes either physically or mentally addicted to it. Then when they show up with the shakes and dark circles under their eyes and begging I

will start start charging exuberant amounts of money.

Are those under your stock lights too? If so, what's your schedule?
I've been using:
1 = 11:00-19:00
2 = 10:30-19:00
3 = 07:00-22:00
I tried adjusting it slowly for sunset and just get some algae growth so I just went back to this. Was trying to get an hour of sunrise/set.

I some point I added 2 actinic blue LED strips. If you look through my thread every thing, including the birdsnest were growing well. I just wanted more blue to retain coral colors when whites were on full. Full whites kinda washed out my coral colors. It was so long ago when I set my lights up but one thing I did do is reduce my 2 ( full whites) to just 4 hours from noon to 4 Pm. The time I’m most likely out of the house. I’ll check my programming if you need more details.

Well, the deal went down this morning in the parking lot. I made sure no cops were around and the transaction took place out of view of the security cameras. My coral dealing alias is now Heisenburg. 1/4 of my birdnest gone, I have someone coming this weekend for more. I do have someone from West Virginia who wants some, but I don’t know with the drive, it’s not like I’m offering mega, ultra, pixie flatulence, rainbow unicorn gsp for free.

I think the legal possession limit is 30 polyps per coral. 30-40 misdemeanor and >40 felony.
