biomedia in a bubble magnus

has anyone put any type biomedia directly inside of a bubble magnus roller filter, meaning inside of the inflow tube inside in the center of the filter?
 
Nutramar Foods
While I haven't done that, I can assure you biomedia is not necessary in a tank with rock and sand.
