What is the general consensus here for where biopellet effluent should be directed? I have seen people say you have to direct it straight into your protein skimmer and others saying just let it go into your return as it will feed the coral in your tank. Has anyone done any research to show that it must be directed into the skimmer or bad things happen? Or has anyone done any research to show corals show any type of reaction when it is directed into the return?

You can do either, but having it dump back into the system could lead to possible algae outbreaks. Having it dump into the skimmer allows to have most of that picked up, but some of the pellet "waste still finds itself back into the system to feed corals. I have mine dump into the skimmer

I had not thought about doing it that way. I guess it would give the pods some food and what they do not eat might still make its way up to the tank for the corals. Thanks for the idea.
